Controlling BlackMagic VideoHub from Ross Dashboard, Part 2

In Part 1 of this post, I wrote about the technical side of how to use Ross Dashboard to send a TCP message to a Blackmagic VideoHub video router.

I thought I would expand on that recently and now I have made available a panel that, when set up with the IP address and port of the router, will automatically load the input (source) and output (destination) names into dropdown lists where the user can easily choose a source and destination to make a route.

It’s up on my Github respository if you can benefit from it!

  1. Hello – Thanks for posting all your work with dashboard. I have downloaded the panel file, but when I open it there is nothing there. I’m running v8.3.1 of dashboard, any reason why I wouldn’t see the layout?

    1. Hi Chris! Thanks for reaching out. My first guess is that the panel is trying to connect to the VideoHub as it loads, and maybe it’s looking for the wrong address. I would try opening the panel file in a text editor, editing the stored IP address there, and then try opening it in Dashboard again to see if that helps.

    2. Great Work you’ve done integrating Blackmagic VideoHubs with Dashboard! I’d love to be able to create a dashboard to view all the routes with the source and destination labels. In my facility we have allot of tie-lines from one router to another, so it would be great to see that info on a dashboard.

Do you know how I could receive the route information?

  2. I had downloaded it from the link and it had a bunch of github code in it. I copied the raw code and changed the IP and it fired right up! this is a great panel!!

  3. Found your script and its a really great improvement for our flightcase production Unit. Thanks a lot! I Have a little bug. Maybe you are able to fix it. I’m unable to scroll in the Source or Destination list. There is no scrollbar visible and you can’t use the mousewheel. But you can at least go through the list with the arrows on the keyboard.
